This custom 304 stainless steel component combines a slender shaft, a tapered transition and a circular end structure with internal openings. It is produced by Swiss-type CNC machining and finished by grinding for applications where a compact cooling-related component requires controlled geometry and a uniform bright surface.
Structure and Machining Features
The part is not a simple turned cylinder. Its long, slender central shaft is combined with an internal bore, open features and a shaped end structure. During machining, 304 stainless steel can generate built-up edge and elevated cutting loads. The long shaft therefore needs stable guide-bushing support, suitable tooling and controlled cutting parameters to protect straightness and coaxiality. The open end features also require careful edge control before final finishing.
Finishing Control
Grinding is applied with attention to the outer diameter, end faces and the edges around the internal openings. The finishing sequence is controlled to achieve a consistent bright appearance without over-rounding edges, collapsing local details or removing material beyond the specified dimensions.
Project Value
For slender stainless steel components that combine rotational geometry with open features, the practical control point is to establish the shaft axis first, maintain support throughout cutting, and leave a controlled allowance for grinding. This approach helps protect coaxial relationships and surface uniformity while retaining the geometry needed for downstream assembly.
