5-Axis CNC Aluminum Tower Sculpture

One-piece 6061 aluminum tower sculpture produced by 5-axis CNC machining with a thin twisted lattice and two-tone anodizing. The key challenge is controlling chatter and cutting loads as high material removal leaves increasingly slender, low-rigidity ribs.

  • Product Description

This decorative tower sculpture is machined as one integral piece from 6061 aluminum alloy on a 5-axis CNC machine. Its thin twisted lattice combines high material removal with low in-process rigidity, followed by two-tone anodizing in magenta-red and teal.

    Product Overview

This case presents a decorative tower sculpture machined from a single piece of 6061 aluminum alloy. The design combines a faceted base with a tapered, twisted open lattice. Magenta-red and teal anodized zones emphasize the continuous form while retaining a metallic appearance.

    Structure and Machining Features

The lattice ribs are thin and closely spaced, while the open-grid geometry requires a very high material-removal ratio. As material is removed, the remaining structure has limited rigidity and becomes increasingly sensitive to cutting forces. Excess load can cause chatter, visible vibration marks or direct rib breakage.

    Machining Process

Five-axis machining provides access to the curved and twisted lattice surfaces while reducing unnecessary repositioning. The machining strategy must balance material removal with gradual load reduction around the thin ribs. Tool paths, engagement and cutting forces require careful control so the grid remains intact as the structure becomes lighter and less rigid.

    One-Piece Construction

The sculpture is machined as one integral component with no splicing and no welding. This preserves the continuous geometry, overall strength and visual completeness of the tower form.

    Industry / Application

Suitable for decorative art, architectural display models and custom presentation pieces. Final geometry, color separation and acceptance requirements follow the customer drawing and approved finish specification.
